Dr. Dre Is Taking On Hollywood

Dr. Dre

Hip-hop super-producer Dr. Dre is taking on the Hollywood machine again — recently inking a multi-year production deal with New Line Cinema through his own company, Crucial Films.

The multiple Grammy Award winning former NWA member will co-produce select projects with longtime collaborator Phillip Atwell, specifically focusing on developing dark comedies before moving into other areas, such as horror.

As can be expected, Dre (legally known as Andre Romell Young) will be heavily involved in the music side of his projects.

Making hits with Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, Eve and The Game, among others, Dre has amassed more than 80 million in sales worldwide, and netted four Grammy Awards.

He first got a taste of Hollywood in Antwone Fuqua’s 2001 hit ‘Training Day,’ and also starred alongside Snoop Dogg in ‘The Wash’ later that year.
